FENCE THE FARM

Between the years 2020 and 2021 the MHS Farm was being visited by herds of deer. Over the weekends, these deer would drain the aquaponics tank of water and eat all things edible on the farm. Students were having to put up makeshift fences all around to protect their small gardens and projects. Eventually everything was being eaten, even the young kalo. The citrus trees were also being damaged due to bucks rubbing their horns on them. Friends put forward $7737 to have the MHS deer fence constructed. Bayer also assisted with the expense of hiring a machine & operator to assist with the clearing of the land to have the fence built. In the end an 8’ x 1100’ deer fence was installed. Students were able to assist with the installation and planning of this fence. All students involved gained hands-on experience with the Love of Labor crew.
